SEAS

The Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) helps students whose studies have been impacted by disadvantage to enter university. For Categories 2 to 4, you must provide evidence when submitting your application.

Tips for SEAS applications:

  1. Keep a record of any disadvantage that has impacted your study. For example if you had to go to hospital, record the dates you were absent from school, and any assessment you missed.
  2. See a Careers or Wellbeing staff member early, so they are aware of your circumstances. We are not able to provide support if we are not fully aware of your situation.
  3. SEAS closes in October.

Category 1: Personal Information and Location.

All students should apply for this category, as it only requires the ticking of two boxes. You will assessed based on the information you provide when creating your VTAC account.

Category 2: Disadvantaged Financial Background

If you, or your family receive Centrelink benefits, or the Family Tax Benefit, you can apply for this category.

As evidence, you can request a Centrelink Statement, as outlined on the Human Services website. Documents must be no older than 3 months at the time of submission. If the document is not in your name, you must list your name and relationship on the document prior to uploading to VTAC.

Category 3: Disability or Medical Condition

If a medical condition has impacted your ability to study you can apply for this category.

You will need to complete an Impact Statement. A guide to this statement can be found on the VTAC website. This statement is submitted online in two sections:

  1. 500 characters outlining the circumstances
  2. 1500 characters outlining the impact of the circumstances

You will also require a Statement of Support from somebody aware of the situation. Provide your Impact Statement and the VTAC guide to writing a Statement of Support, to person providing the support. This statement should include:

  1. 500 characters outlining the circumstances
  2. 1500 characters outlining the impact of the circumstances

Category 4: Difficult Circumstances

Any circumstances that does not fall into categories 1 to 3, that has impacted your studies can be included in this category.

You will need to complete an Impact Statement. A guide to this statement can be found on the VTAC website. This statement is submitted online in two sections:

  1. 500 characters outlining the circumstances
  2. 1500 characters outlining the impact of the circumstances
