VTAC

The Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) is a central application service for universities across Victoria. Through this system you can apply to up to 8 courses.

VTAC CourseSearch allows you to easily search for courses from multiple institutions.

VTAC Prerequisite and Course Explorer allows you to see what VCE subjects are required to enter different courses. Watch the video for instructions to use this tool.

Please see the VTAC Presentation for an outline of the application process.

Course Preferences Order

You can list up to 8 courses in your VTAC application. The order of these preferences is important in determining the course you are offered.

View the Ordering VTAC Preferences Guide Video, and the VTAC Media video below to understand how to order your course preferences.

Tips to ordering course preferences:

1.     Order your courses by preference, not what you think you will get into

2.     List courses that you want to study, and will lead to your desired career

3.     Fill in all 8 preferences

4.     Avoid listing high ATAR courses below low ATAR courses

5.     2-4-2 model to ensure you have an offer

  • 2 dream courses

  • 4 achievable courses

  • 2 backup courses (guide ATAR requirement below 80)
